These towels are an actual nightmare. Let me explain; first of all, when I received them, I was THRILLED at the softness, fluffiness, thickness, size and vibrant color. So, what’s the problem, you ask?I always wash new towels a few times to ensure I’ve gotten rid of as much lint as possible.I have a very high end washer and dryer that tends to spin quite efficiently, and traps more lint than any dryer I’ve ever owned, so I figured three wash/drys was enough.I was absolutely shocked at how much blue lint (and grey bc I also bought a set of grey towels, washed separately of course) came out in the dryer.Like nothing I’ve ever seen before, each and every one of the three wash/dry cycles. The amount of lint did not lessen with each load.Considering how much lint came off these things, I was shocked and delighted at how fluffy and thick they still were.Or, at least I thought I was delighted. After the third cycle I decided it was time to take these babies for a spin, so I hopped in the shower, excited to wrap myself up in what I thought would be my new favorite towel. The horror: as I’m blissfully unaware and drying off, I notice a streak of blue dye and lint on my arm.Okay, no big deal, guess I just need to wash/dry them once more.Until I wake into my walk in closet to dress and do my usual after shower skin care and look in my full length mirror and I AM A SMURF.No, I do not mean a little blue. Not a tiny streak, dot, what have you.An entire face, head, and body FULL of the most obscene amount of deep navy blue lint and dye I’ve ever seen in my life.I have waist long hair, plus, I’m a woman, so showering already takes forever as it is, but this was not a situation where I could just wipe myself off with a wipe or damp rag. This was full blown like I’d been tarred and then stood in a tunnel of blowing blue lint balls.I was so frustrated I re-showered and had to scrub pretty aggressively to remove the blue dye, and make sure that there were no traces of lint left on me (unfortunately, I was unsuccessful and continued to find blue fuzz on and around me for days).I vowed to never use these beautifully colored, big, luxurious bath towels again. But then, decided, maybe, just maybe, a few more wash/dry cycles would take care of the problem. This time though, I basically did a psych test.No dice. Two more wash cycles and lint everywhere. Finally, I gave up, however, my husband did not get the memo.I should have thrown these evil towels away, but foolishly put them in the linen closet with the rest of my towels. Now, by the time he used them, they’d been washed/dried minimum EIGHT times, each time with a full lint trap afterwards. While he did not come out of the shower stained blue, looking like he rolled himself into the contents of a lint trap, he did still have enough blue fuzz on him to notice, and ask me if these new towels had been washed (clearly I did not communicate with him about the towel issue in advance ??♀️)He’s easy going and didn’t mind as much as I did in the regard that he didn’t want me to throw them away and thought a few more washes might help.Lord knows how many gallons of water and electricity these things have cost me, but I digress…We are now a couple of months in.I *have* cautiously used the towels when I’ve been backed up on clean laundry, reluctantly, but what I have to go through first;Thorough lint rolling on both sides, and yes, the lint paper still turns blue and each piece covered in blue fuzz, just not as thick as before. But visible enough to make me not want to dry myself aggressively with them, just a pat dry.In addition, I have also tried using a sweater shaver on them (highly recommend buying one, not just for this, but for any clothing or linens that get pills or lint). The trap on the sweater shaver which I gently use also fills up each and every time.Interesting to note; we also bought two grey bath sheets, and a pink one for our kids. These did and still do shed a lot, but nowhere NEAR as severely as what these navy blue ones did. While I did not plan to write a novel length review for these towels, I realize that shopping for anything fabric online can be hit or miss, so I really hope this helps someone. In conclusion; the towels themselves are beautiful, look on the higher end side in terms of fluffiness, although that fluffiness and vibrant color which has shockingly held just as Navy blue today as the first day I received them, have all the makings of a perfect towel, you’ll have two choices if you buy these;- Be okay with finding wet lint head to toe on yourself when you are out of shower- Be okay with continuing to find said lint in your hair and cracks and crevices long after you’ve dried offOR- Be okay with taking on a part time job as a professional towel lint removal specialist each and every time you shower, basically for eternity. If I wasn’t so bad at returning things I’d have sent all of them back, but I probably took too long hanging onto hope that one day the shedding would cease ?If you found this lengthy review helpful, please give me a thumbs up ?
